The Inventive Work of Shigeru Ban - Documentary (2017)

The world of this Pritzker-Prize winning architect is explored against the background of an exhibition installation of his work in Australia. This short film looks at how Shigeru Ban combines his passionate preoccupation with the construction of temporary shelters for those affected by natural disasters, with the stresses of running a multi national commercial practice creating such work as the recently completed Cité Musicale, Paris.

Among Equals; Transforming Lives - Documentary (2017)

Among Equals; Transforming Lives is a short documentary shot on location in Port Moresby and the Highlands of Papua New Guinea by the filmmaker Maximilian Homaei. The film gives a moving insight into the daily lives of the women, as they tell powerful stories of how the sale of Bilum bags through Among Equals is directly impacting their lives.

Tear-A-Way - Fashion Video (2013)

Designed and developed by University of Technology Sydney (UTS) fashion students in collaboration with Sherman Contemporary Art Foundation, Tear-a-Way explores the exciting and complex field of contemporary fashion. The live presentation will show the creative and innovative responses to the five Tokyo brands and re-imagines them in the context of past, present and possible fashion futures.

Film Maker - Biography

Maximilian Homaei was introduced to the world of film by David Lean and his seminal works - Lawrence of Arabia, Doctor Zhivago and Brief Encounter - He instantly developed a love for cinema which lead him to pursue a career in filmmaking.  

Maximilian wrote, directed and produced his first short film titled Kettle in 2014. Kettle is a 38 minute film, which explores the troubled journey of a young man - Kris - who is torn between the religious convictions of his conservative mother and the onset of his sexual awakening.

Maximilian continued his film career at the Sherman Contemporary Arts Foundation (SCAF), a philanthropic contemporary art gallery in Sydney, Australia. As the director and producer of online content, Maximilian directed a number of short documentaries on artists and exhibitions showcased at the gallery. Over the years, he has worked alongside some of Asia Pacific regions top visual artists and architects, including Shigeru Ban, Mikhael Subotzky, Jompet Kuswidananto, Greg Semu, Vo Trong Nghia, Chien-Chi Chang, Sopheap Pich, Pinaree Sanpitak, Yang Zhichao, Shaun Gladwell among others. 

Maximilian continues making short films and documentaries while developing his ideas for his first feature film.

He wrote and directed his second short film, Satan and His Cat which was completed in 2022.
